As a culture, Mormonism is coming into its own, its writers bringing their unique vision into compelling conversation with the world at large. However, their works are scattered across many venues, making it difficult for the larger Mormon populace to appreciate or even be aware of them.

To provide these works with their deserved audience, The Best of Mormonism will annually collect excellent published writing that is by, for, or about Mormons. The volume will be distributed to the subscribers of Sunstone Magazine and the Association for Mormon Letters’ literary journal Irreantum. It will also be sold online and in bookstores.

We are currently seeking previously published poetry, novel excerpts, fiction, essays, comics, and plays for our 2009 edition.

As the collection is designed to highlight the diversity and breadth of the Mormon literary community, we are interested in works that have been published in magazines, journals, and Web publications that do not have Mormon connections as well as those that do.

Works need not have explicit Mormon references.

All submissions must have been published in 2007 or 2008, with reprint rights still in the author’s hands.

Please submit work either as a PDF document or as text in the body of the email to: bestofmormonism [at] gmail [dot] com . Include original publication information and a URL for the Internet version of the work if applicable.
